The reason is TF2's economy, TF2 is in a sort of half-undead state but once it's understood the game is dead for real the economy falls out the bottom.
The longer it takes the worse things get for them. They HAD to respond to it, and now they've bought themselves some time but they HAVE to have something to show wrt bots. Check for posts in the thread or be the one to announce.
